As the 5-Colleges Campus Director of the Hult Prize in 2024, Prince Bashangezi (Zimbabwe, UWC Southern Africa, Pomona College ’27) supported students across the Claremont colleges in applying for start-up funding through a competition partnering with the Clinton Global Initiative. His leadership exemplifies the global citizenship values the Davis UWC Scholars Program cultivates.
“My experience at Pomona continues to be very fulfilling and community-driven,” Prince writes. From co-presiding the African Students Association to mentoring freshmen through the International Student Mentorship Program to living in Oldenborg Center Swahili Hall, he has found home while far from Zimbabwe.
Prince’s technical skills have flourished alongside his leadership roles. He has interned as a Software Engineer at Microsoft for two consecutive summers and received the Robert Day Scholarship at Claremont McKenna College, recognizing strong academic performance and leadership potential. In his free time, he has developed an AI college advisor, bruhh.ai, to give college students 24/7 personal academic and career advisor.
