At Cornell, Helping Businesses Succeed with Positive Impact
“Beyond my classes, I have found two communities that resonate with these values and my passions here at Cornell: Social Business Consulting and One Love,” writes Ankita Bhattacharjee ’22 (India, Mahindra UWC). She served this year as co-president of One Love, a club that promotes education about relationship health on Cornell’s campus, and as director of operations for Cornell Social Business Consulting, which Ankita says “gave me the opportunity to pursue social impact projects through the consulting field.
“The experiences and values at UWC have shaped my interest in sustainability and (social) impact work and also instilled in me the curiosity to pursue the social sciences,” reflects Ankita, who was born in India and grew up in the United Kingdom. “I have come to realize that impact and profit are not at odds with each other, but rather that businesses and organizations can be designed to positively impact society and the environment and be profitable in doing so.
“I will be realizing these values after graduating Cornell by working with Topl, an impact-tech startup.” The enterprise, she says, has developed “the world's first blockchain built to be a global impact monetization engine, enabling institutions to monetize on their sustainable and ethical impact and practices. I will be joining Topl full-time upon graduation as a senior analyst in their Product Growth team.”
