The University of Florida is a vibrant public institution that seeks to balance a diverse student body with a very competitive admissions process. Without the Davis United World College Scholars Program we would be challenged to enroll as many international students as we might like, to the detriment of the rest of the students and the campus culture. Davis UWC Scholars bring a fresh international perspective to such fields as architecture, music, building construction, journalism, and engineering, as well as the liberal arts and sciences. The Davis UWC Scholars epitomize the ideals of citizenship, and we are proud to call them Gators.

How to Apply to Be a Partner School

The Davis UWC Scholars Program annually reviews those institutions selected for participation in the program.  It welcomes letters of request for consideration from the presidents of America colleges and universities, explaining in some detail the school’s current and historical commitment to internationalization of the undergraduate experience and the strategic thinking for the future of your institution that is relevant to the desired partnership with the Davis UWC Scholars Program.

We tend to look at a few key things in our partnership assessment: type and reputation of school; geographic location; possible value-added to be gained by adding such a school; whether it already recruits UWC students (the ideal candidate school will have consistently matriculated two or more UWC students per entering class); its intention to build a meaningful cluster of UWC students in each entering class; and a school's commitment to fully support the financial needs of our scholars above and beyond our annual grants.

The Davis UWC Scholars Program makes grants only to institutions and not directly to any individual student. Grants are in support of need-based scholarship awards to eligible graduates of the United World College schools worldwide who matriculate at the selected schools.

Letters may be submitted at any time during the academic year, but no later than May 31, so that decisions can be rendered each year in August.
